NOTICE OF INTENT
MICROMILL SYSTEM

This is a notice of intent to solicit from a single source.

The US Geological Survey (USGS), intends to award a Purchase Order to Ligero Technical Services, LLC in Austin, TX for a Micromill System as described in the Salient Characteristics below.

MICROMILL SALIENT CHARACTERISTICS
- perform uniform and precise, submillimeter-scale milling of rock samples to collect powder material for isotopic and geochemical analyses
- submicron sample motion control in the X, Y and Z directions
- high-resolution camera with optical resolution down to 5.5 microns and digital zoom down to 0.3mm field of view
- enclosed in a HEPA-filtered enclosure

ADDITIONAL INFORMATION
Award will be made in accordance with Federal Acquisition Regulation (FAR) 13.106-1(b) and the procedures at FAR Part 12 entitled, Acquisition of Commercial Items and FAR Part 13 entitled, Simplified Acquisition Procedures. Ligero Technical Services, LLC is, to the knowledge of the USGS, the only source who offers the only micromill with submicron sample motion control in the X, Y and Z directions; has a high-resolution camera with optical resolution down to 5.5 microns and digital zoom down to 0.3mm field of view; and is enclosed in a HEPA-filtered enclosure, which ensures minimal to no contamination as well as retention of powder sample material.

The purpose of this notice is to satisfy the requirements of FAR Subpart 5.2. This notice of intent is not a request for competitive quotes. However, all responsible parties may submit a quotation which shall be considered by the agency. No solicitation will be issued. A determination not to compete this action based upon responses received is in the sole discretion of the Government.

The North American Industry Classification System (NAICS) code 334516 (Analytical Laboratory Instrument Manufacturing) and associated size standard of 1,000 employees apply to this announcement, along with Product Service Code 6640 (Laboratory Equipment and Supplies).
