Life Technologies holds the patent on Applied Biosystems DNA and is the sole manufacturer and distributor of all Applied Biosystems kits, reagents, capillaries and related consumables used in conjunction with these instruments. These products are sold direct, and are available exclusively from Life Technologies/Applied Biosystems. This requirement is for the following unique instrument systems that are used for Human Identification applications along with GeneMapper and GMID-X software:

The Government intends to procure this sole source requirement under Simplified Acquisition Procedures in FAR part 13 and Commercial procedures in FAR part 12. THIS NOTICE IS NOT A REQUEST FOR COMPETITIVE PROPOSALS and a solicitation will not be issued. Interested concerns must show clear and convincing evidence that competition of this requirement would be advantageous to the Government. If no affirmative written responses are received by 10:00 a.m. on 13 May 2014, an award will be made without further notice. Oral communications are not acceptable in response to this notice.
