The Uniformed Services University of the Health Sciences, the Department of Defense Medical School and Health Sciences University, hereby announces its intent to award a sole source purchase order to BD Biosciences of San Jose, CA for the BD High Throughput Sampler for the BD LSR II. This will satisfy the need for a high throughput automated cell acquisition. This is a compenent system upgrade for the LSR II flow cytometer cell analyzer that has already been procured and is currently being used. This upgrade from BD Biosciences is the only option that will meet the university needs and be compatible with the existing system.The statutory authority permitting this award under other than full and open competition is 10 U.S.C. 2304(C)(1), as cited in FAR 6.302-1 that authorizes USUHS to award a contract when only one source and no other supplies or services will satisfy agency requirements.
