Solicitation number NA1341-03-Q-0351 dated April 21, 2003 is hereby amended to respond to technical questions submitted. Question: The specification is for the ability to perform quaternary gradients. Would a system that performs binary gradients and have the ability for automated switching of selected buffers or solvents up to four different buffer lines per pump for a total of eight be acceptable? The automated buffer switching can be used for automated washing of the system and to switch buffers for different columns. Answer: NIST requires quaternary gradients as defined in the system specifications. Question: Would the following injection options be acceptable: injections with smaller volumes through an injection loop, injections of larger volumes 50 -100 ml through another injection port and injections which are unlimited in volume through another injection port? Answer: The injection options mentioned would be considered acceptable. Question: Would an HPLC system that has a photo diode array detector with a wavelength range of 190 nm to 600 nm be considered? Answer: NIST requires the photodiode array detector to have a wavelength range between at least 190 nm to 800 nm as defined in the specifications. The due date for quotes has also been extended to May 06, 2003 at 3pm EST.
