THIS IS A NOTICE OF INTENT, NOT A REQUEST FOR A PROPOSAL. A SOLICITATION DOCUMENT WILL NOT BE ISSUED AND PROPOSALS WILL NOT BE REQUESTED.It is the intent of the National Heart, Lung, and Blood Institute to negotiate on a sole source basis with Illumina, Inc. 9885 Towne Centre Dr, San Diego, CA 92121-1975, to provide the Infinium HumanHap 550 Whole-Genome Genotyping Kit for a period of six months from 09/07 - 03/08. The genotyping kits provide reagents for experiments to investigate the genetic change in cells. The genotyping kits will be used to explore the genome at >550,000 spots that are known to have variations in cancer cell lines. The kits will be used to score for copy numbers at each of these spots, which indicates the loss or gain of genome at these spots. The sole source determination is based upon the fact that the genotyping kits from Illumina are unique because it allows for the evaluation of a maximum number of loci >550,000 in the genome with known variationshe sorbent. It is an automated process which allows for increased reproducibility as compared to previous packing techniques. It increases packing density, lifetime and improved performance. With an increase in the HPLC purification process it will require columns that perform reproducible separations efficiently under a diverse set of conditions for a extended period of time. This acquisition is being conducted under FAR Part 13, Simplified Acquisition Procedures, and is exempt from the requirements of FAR part 6, Competition Requirements. The North American Industry Classification (NAICS) Code is 334516 and the Size Standard is 500 employees. This notice of intent is not a request for competitive proposals. The determination by the Government not to compete the proposed purchase order based upon responses to this notice is solely with the discretion of the Government.
