The U.S. Department of Agriculture intends to procure a fermentor with a working volume up to ten liters, two fermentors, each with a working volume up to one hundred liters. All fermentor units shall be purchased from the same vendor to ensure compatibility in software system. The software system will provide automatic data logging and control functions, including alarm monitoring for up to eight fermentors. All fermentors will meet ASME section VIII and Division I code stamp requirements. The ten-liter fermentor shall be constructed for use with bacteria and fungi, whereas the fifty and one hundred liter fermentors shall be constructed for use with bacteria, fungi and nematodes. Products developed for the fermentor shall be scalable to large production model fermentors greater than 2,000 liters. The fermentors shall be delivered FOB to the USDA-ARS, 141 Experiment Station Rd., Stoneville, Mississippi. An IFB will be issued on or about January 21, 2004.
