***The National Institute of Standards and Technology (NIST), intends to negotiate, on a sole source basis, under authority of FAR 13.106-1(b)(1), with Praxair Specialty Gases in Bethlehem, PA for the rental of Praxair Specialty Gases provided compressed gas cylinders for the period of date of award through December 31, 2007. ***Sole source determination is based on gases being purchased, under a separate purchase order, from Praxair Specialty Gases. Gases are delivered in Praxair Specialty Gases owned cylinders and NIST is required to pay rental charges on these cylinders until the cylinders are returned. As Praxair Specialty Gases owns all cylinders, Praxair Specialty Gases is the sole source for this requirement.******The North American Industry Classification System (NAICS) code for this acquisition is 325120, and the size standard is 500 employees.***No solicitation package will be issued. This notice of intent is not a request for competitive quotations; however, the Government will consider responses received by December 12, 2006.*** A determination by the Government not to compete the proposed acquisition based upon responses to this notice is solely within the discretion of the Government.
