NOTICE OF INTENT TO AWARD SOLE SOURCE. Arnold Engineering Development Center (AEDC), Arnold AFB TN, intends to award a sole source contract to Princeton Instruments, 3660 Quakerbridge Road, Trenton, NJ 08619 for one (1) PI-MAX 1024SB-25-SG, PI Acton PI-MAX e2v 30-11 scientific grade 1, front-illuminated CCD, 1024 x 256 pixels, 1:1 fiber-optic bonded 25-mm grade 1, super-blue Gen II image intensifier, 26 x 26 micron pixels (25.0 x 6.7 mm image area), MCP bracket pulsing, <100ns gating capable, sealed operation, no N2 purge required, Part Number 8052-0014-7397-0018/6050-0336, one (1) WinSpec/32, real time acquisition, display and data processing software for Microsoft Windows 2000/XP, Part Number 4412-0048, one (1) SPEC-MNT-PIMAX, PI-MAX spectroscopy mount, Part Number 7389-0003, one (1) USB2-5M, high speed communications port using USB2 protocol with 5 meter cable, Part Number 6050-0494. Standard front illuminated or back illuminated CCDs will not fulfill our requirements for UV applications. It is required that the detector array be mountable to the output port of the HR-320 spectrometer and the CCD must be similar to and compatible with on-hand detector arrays used for similar visible spectrometers. Estimated delivery time will be 60 days after contract award. This synopsis is approved for a sole source contract action as authorized in FAR 6.302-1 (supplies or services are considered to be available from only one source). No solicitation package will be issued. However, all interested sources may identify their interest but must provide proof of capability to provide an acceptable product by submitting pricing data, an accurate description of the equipment offered, and make and model numbers of the equipment. Only responses containing this data will be considered for the purpose of determining whether to conduct a competitive procurement. Award will not be made on the basis of responses received to this synopsis. If no favorable responses are received by close of business (4:00 PM CST) 15 September 2006, a contract will be negotiated with the above named source.
