The Veterans Administration San Francisco Medical Center Research and Development Group intends to negotiate on a sole source basis with Bruker Nano Corporation to provide equipment and installation of their Bruker BioScope Resolve AFM Microscope and components. This equipment will be utilized to continue to support research projects currently being conducted at the San Francisco VA for the analysis of mechanical and physical properties of biological specimens. The Bruker Atomic Force Microscope will expand the capacity of SF-VAMC Bone Imaging Core Facility to provide services to more than 40 ongoing VA-, NIH-, and DOD-funded research projects in assessing changes in cell and tissue biomechanics at atomic levels. This new technique/approach will facilitate discoveries of mechanisms and treatments of skin, bone, and neuronal diseases afflicting large populations of VA patient. The San Francisico VA requires Bruker s Atomic Force Microscope unique features such as its high resolution (nanometer-range) imaging, fast mapping of whole live cells, complete range of cell mechanics measured and easy to use interface which generates consistent results for users of all experience levels, to continue to provide the services listed above. This notice of intent is not a request for competitive proposals; however, any responsible source who believes it is capable of meeting the requirement may submit a capability statement to the contracting office no later than Monday, March 12, 2018, 4:00 PM EST.
