The Center for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) intends to award, on a sole source basis a purchase order to the Quagen, Inc., 27220 Turnberry Lane, Suite 200, Valencia, CA 91355. The proposed contractor is the only known responsible source and no other supplies or services will satisfy agency requirements. The CDC intends to purchase the BioRobot EZ1 system. This system provides a walkaway purification of nucleic acids and purifies high-quality DNA from 1-6 samples in parallel for clinical research applications. Anticipated award date is August 2, 2004. This is not a request for competitive proposals and no solicitation is available. Firms that believe they can provide the required products are encouraged to identify themselves and give written notification to the Contracting Officer within 10 days from the date of this synopsis. A determination by the Government not to compete this proposed action based on responses to this notice is solely within the discretion of the Government.
