The U.S. Environmental Protection Agency's (US EPA) National Risk Management Research Laboratory, Subsurface Protection and Remediation Division, located at the Robert S. Kerr Environmental Research Center in Ada, OK, is seeking to acquire an automated thermal desorption system (TDS), which would allow determination of volatile and semi-volatile compounds in air. The thermal desorption system (TDS) shall automatically process sorbent tubes for analysis. In the field or lab, air samples would be pulled through sorbent tubes where the compounds are adsorbed onto sorbent materials. The tubes are then placed in the TDS instrument and the compounds thermally desorbed into a secondary trap and then injected into the capillary column of a gas chromatograph. The system shall consist of an autosampler, thermal desorption unit, cold trap, thermal desorption tubes containing sorbent and a tube conditioning unit. This is a small business set-aside.
