This is a notice of intent to solicit from a single source.

The U.S. Geological Survey (USGS), intends to negotiate a purchase order with Qiagen LLC, Germantown MD for Microbial DNA qPCR Arrays.

Award will be made in accordance with Federal Acquisition Regulation (FAR) 13.106-1(b) and the procedures at FAR Part 12 entitled, Acquisition of Commercial Items and FAR Part 13 entitled, Simplified Acquisition Procedures. Qiagen LLC is, to the USGS¿ knowledge, the only source who can supply the Microbial DNA qPCR Arrays.

The NAICS code for this action is 334516 Analytical Laboratory Instrument Manufacturing.

The USGS Alaska Science Center requires commercially available and validated quantitative PCR assays that may be applied to environmental samples to detect the presence of 87 antimicrobial resistance genes. Assays must be compatible with the BioRad CFX connect qPCR machine currently housed in the USGS Alaska Science Center Molecular Ecology Laboratory. Additionally, assays must include 96-well plates pre-loaded with reagents, master mix that may be added to wells with multichannel pipettes, and appropriate reaction controls. Sufficient assays are required to complete the study (i.e., to provide results for 108 samples including positive and negative controls).
