NAICS Code: 541710 The U.S. Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) intends to negotiate a sole source purchase order under Simplified Acquisition Procedures to Affymetrix GeneChip Inc., 3420 Central Expressway, Santa Clara, CA 95051 for the acquisition of Affymetrix GeneChips. These GeneChips are designed to be used with the existing Affymetrix Instrument System that is located at EPA. Future experiments at EPA will generate data to be compared with existing Affymeterix data sets at EPA. Consistency in platform comparison is critical to genomic scientific mission at EPA. The research application of Affymetrix GeneChips requires that the chip be scanned on the Affymetrix Scanner 3000. The image is displayed on a screen connected to the scanner and analog software generates a density number for each gene, to be used in the analysis. The resource of detailed analysis is deemed critical to establishing the use of technology in our laboratories and adapting the analysis protocols to specific research applications.
