The National Institute of Standards and Technology (NIST) intends to award a purchase order on a sole source basis to 4Wave, Inc., Sterling, VA under the authority of FAR 13.106(b), Simplified Acquisition Procedures. The object of this requirement is to procure a new 3cm Ion Source and a refurbished Model CSC IBS-250 Ion Source Controller. The results of market research has resulted in a determination that 4Wave, Inc. appears to be the only source for this equipment. 4Wave is the manufacturer of existing government-owned equipment being used in the Magnetic Research Facility Laboratory and the ion source and controller must be compatible with the existing magnetic engineering research system that was previously procured from 4Wave, Inc. The anticipated award date of this order is on or about five (5) days from the date of this notice. This notice of intent is not a request for competitive quotations. Interested persons may respond to this requirement no later than the response date above. A determination by the Government whether to compete this proposed purchase order is solely within the discretion of the Government.
