The National Institute of Standards & Technology (NIST)has a requirement for a DPSS laser that has the minimum possible noise from 10 Hz to 1 GHz and no mode beating whatsoever. It is the intent of the Government to award this procurement on a sole source basis under authority of 41 U.S.C.253(c)(1) with Coherent Laser Group of Denver, Co. We require that the diodes be aluminum free, which prevents degradation of the diodes due to oxidation of the aluminum, and that the deliver fiber detach from the diode module, rather than from the laser head. The output power should be greater than 10 watts continuous wave; wavelength 532 nm; noise less than 0.04% rms from 10 Hz to 1 GHz; linewidth less than 5MHz, single longitudinal mode; power stability +/-1% over 2 hours after a 15 minute warmup; pointing stability less than 5 microradians/degree C; diodes aluminum free, detachable from delivery fiber. This procurement is being conducted per FAR Part 13, Simplified Acquisition Procedures (NTE $100,000). This synopsis is issued for information only. No competitive solicitation is planned. No award will be made on the basis of requests in response to this notice. Terms & Conditions and agency level protest procedures can be found on web site http://oamweb.osec.doc.gov/conops/#REFERENCEInformation submitted in response to this notice will be used solely to determine whether or not use of competitive procedures to fulfill this requirement would be in the Government's best interest and must address qualifications pertinent to this requirement. These are the complete specifications and no RFQ is available. All technical questions shall be addressed to Steve Cundiff of NIST/JILA at 303 492-4021. This RFQ will expire July 25, 2002.
