The Department of Veterans Affairs, Network Contracting Office (NCO) 15, intends to solicit and award a sole source, firm fixed price contract with one Large Business (LB) source, Siemens Medical Solutions USA, Inc. This acquisition is to replace worn/old parts of the Siemens Somatom Computed Tomography (CT) Scanning machines. These issues were found during a preventative maintenance inspection. These parts need to be replaced to prevent critical failure of the device and a halt in patient care. Market research confirmed that no other vendor, other than Siemens, supplies the parts included in this acquisition. The Veterans Health Administration prohibits the use of gray market items. Gray market items are considered to be items outside of the original equipment manufacturer s intended distribution channels.
