Pre-Solicitation Notice for notice of intent to award a sole source contract. This is not a solicitation. The Department of Veterans Affairs intends to negotiate a sole source contract to obtain Y-90 TheraSphere radioactive microspheres, direct patient care supply items, to be used in Interventional Radiology at VA Boston, West Roxbury Division to be procured from Biocompatibles, Inc., 115 Hurley Rd., Building 3F, Oxford, CT 06478. The proprietary Yttrium-90 microspheres known as TheraSpheres are used to treat primary liver cancer. Each does is calibrated to be patient specific and is intended to prolong the patient's life while awaiting liver transplant. The Department of Veterans Affairs intends to negotiate and award a base plus 4 potential option year contract to procure the Yttrium-90 TheraSpheres from Biocompatibles, Inc., the sole manufacturer of this proprietary technology. Since the intent is to procure this on a sole source basis, no solicitation will be posted to FedBizOps. The solicitation will be provided to the Biocompatibles, the sole source provider, on or about 8/10/2015. The applicable NAICS code is 325412 with a 750 Employee Size Standard. The FSC/PSC is 6505. The authority for this action is FAR 6.302.1-1 Only One Responsible source and no other supplies or services will satisfy agency requirements.
