The Pacific Regional Contracting Office at Tripler Army Medical Center, Hawaii intends to award a sole source contract to Biomerieux Inc. for Thermofisher MiniVidas Procalcitonin Reagents. The Thermofisher reagents are FDA approved. The Thermofisher MiniVidas reagents must be compatible with existing government owned equipment to ensure continuity of existing services. The statutory authority permitting this award without providing for full and open competition is 10 U.S.C. 2304(c)(1), as cited in FAR 13.106-1(b)(1)(i) which authorizes the government to award contracts when there is only one responsible source and no other supplies or services will satisfy agency requirements.
