The Government has cancelled contract award made under VA246-15-C-0071 for the delivery of four (4) ERBE APC2 and ERBE VIO 300D electrosurgical units to the Kernersville Health Care Center in Kernersville, NC. The Government is reconsidering whether to issue a sole-source award for the equipment. The purpose of this special notice is to invite firms to comment regarding the procurement and the use of a sole source strategy. The sole source strategy was based on a desire of medical professionals to procure the same brand of equipment to avoid human error during surgery. The original justification and approval is attached only for reference to the original procurement strategy. There is an additional requirement for the same type of equipment to be delivered at the Charlotte Health Care Center in Charlotte, NC. The information from this notice will be used to help determine acquisition strategy for procuring the required equipment for both locations.
