DESCRIPTION: The NF/SG Veterans Healthcare System, Malcolm Randall VA Medical Center, 1601 SW Archer Road, Gainesville, FL 32608 intent to sole source with RENISHAW INC, for the Rigid 31P flat surface coil. This sole source basis pursuant to VAAR 873 & 38 USC 8153 and FAR 6.302-1 for the Rigid 31P flat surface coil. The coil is used during magnetic resonance spectroscopy procedures. This equipment allows determination of tissue chemical composition at rest and during exercise. Also, it will be used as part of RR&D funded studies. This company has the sole source contract with Philips (brand of MR scanner) to manufacture coils that interface with the system. The equipment includes: Rigid 31p flat surface coil - 6 cm in diameter for the Philips 3.0T Achieva and the Rigid 31p flat surface coil - 10 cm in diameter for the Philips 3.0T Achieva.
