The Dreamstation Apaps and Bipaps are the only products compatible. Furthermore, after merging the database, extensive training was provided to all sleep and telehealth staff. Introducing a different end-product would result in delays to patient care as well as a requirement for additional training, and would create a fragmented system for managing compliance among the veteran patients who are already in the system. Medical devices, assistive technologies, and adaptive equipment required for appropriate patient care are determined by a qualified clinician on a case-by-case basis and are deemed medical necessity. There may be other manufacturers/suppliers who supply similar items but do not provide for the specific fit or function of the prescribed treatment.
