The Department of Veterans Affairs Medical Center, VISN 6 Centralized Acquisition Service, intends to negotiate a sole source procurement with Boston Scientific for the purchase of TAXUS stents. This proposed contract action is for TAXUS stents for which the Government intends to solicit and negotiate with one source under the authority of FAR 603.2. The VA believes that Boston Scientific is the only company that can provide, paclitaxel-eluting stents. This notice of intent is not a request for competitive quotes. No solicitation document is available and telephone requests will not be accepted. However, any firm that believes it can meet these requirements may give written notification to the Contracting Officer within 7 days from the date of publication of this announcement. Supporting evidence must be in sufficient detail to demonstrate the ability to comply with the above requirements for paclitaxel-eluting stents. Information may be sent to the Contracting Office, VA Medical Center, Hampton, Virginia. 23667. Responses received will be evaluated however, a determination by the Government to compete the proposed procurement based on the responses to this notice is solely within the discretion of the Government. If no responses are received, the VA Medical Center will proceed with the sole source negotiation with Boston Scientific.
