Equipment Statement of Work (SOW) ZIMMER OSTEOTOME/EXPLANT Instrument Trays 1. Background The Department of Veterans Affairs, NY Harbor Healthcare System, Manhattan campus Surgical service is requesting the Procurement of ZIMMER OSTEOTOME/EXPLANT INSTRUMENT SETS. These devices will be used during intraoperative Orthopedic procedures. Zimmer Explant is needed for hip revisions. Zimmer Explant Osteotomes help to remove acetabular components and preserve acetabular bone for the subsequent reconstruction. The Explant osteotomes are a critical tool needed for hip revisions, as the tool makes acetabular component removal faster, easier and safer for preservation of bone stock. EXPLANT is a trademark and brand of ZIMMER, INC.. The EXPLANT covers surgical instruments for use in hip surgeries which are frequently referred to the Manhattan VA.  NYHHS intends to meet the need for higher level patient care by purchasing these trays to assure that the operating room is fully stocked. A wide variety of instrument sizes facilitates multiple options to deal with most anatomical variations. The purchase of this system consisting of 3 trays will also allow NYH to save EXPLANT OSTEOTOME USAGE FEES for revision cases. The instruments are needed to support the facilities surgical case load. All surgeons using the equipment at NYHHS are satisfied with performance and surgeons who use the same and other systems at our affiliate attest that the requested system is superior.
