This is a sources sought announcement only and is not a request for proposals or quotes. The Department of Veterans Affairs Service Area Office (SAO) East Office is seeking to determine availability of SDVOSB or VOSB sources with the capability to provide small precision micromanipulators. The following are the specifications for the micromanipulators: " 2 motorized 3 axis micromanipulators providing movement precision must be 20 nanometers " drift movement must be less than 1 micron per 2 hours " total travel range 25 millimeters in x and z axis, at least 14 millimeters in y axis " controlled remotely by hardware and optionally by software " small footprint to allow for at least 6 manipulators to be placed around the recording stage " allow for easy exchange of pipettes without disturbing neighboring electrode placements " precision movement in x, y, z and along an arbitrary pipette approach angle " must not introduce electrically noise into the amplifiers " each manipulator must move smoothly as to not vibrate the neighboring pipettes " the load of the manipulator must be able to mount/manipulate the current patch clamp head stages. This is a salient requirement, and is not flexible.
