The VA National Acquisition Center will issue RFP 797-NC-02-0017 for the Department of Veterans Affairsâ (VA) and Department of Defenseâs (DoD) requirements for Metformin Hcl 500mg, 850mg and 1000mg Tablets, estimated annual usage of 214,045 bottles of 500mg in bottles of 100, 323,300 bottles of 500mg in bottles of 500, 400,725 bottles of 850mg in bottles of 100, 1,075 bottles of 850mg in bottles of 300 and 310,787 bottles of 1000mg in bottles of 100. These bottle quantity sizes represent the total individual tablets that VA and DoD previously used and future procurement may be in different bottle quantity sizes as they become available. The estimated quantities listed above are for VA and DoD, however, estimated quantities for Indian Health Services and the Bureau of Prisons may be added to the solicitation later. The contract period will be for one year plus four one-year option periods. The contract items will be distributed through the VA and DoD Pharmaceutical Prime Vendors (PPV). Tablets must be compatible with automatic dispensing units (Baxter ATC Canisters, Optifil, etc.) and if offeror is not a manufacturer, a signed agreement between the offeror and the manufacturer must be submitted with offer and remain in effect for the duration of the contract period including option years. Glass bottles are not acceptable. Offers will be due by 4:00 pm Central Standard Time on April 12, 2002. If an award is not made upon the initial offers, a competitive range will be established, and Final Proposal Revisions will be accepted through either written correspondence or through a competitive, anonymous, on-line Reverse Auction (RA) technique.
