The Robley Rex VA Medical Center-A&L Department has a requirement for an Infiniti Vision system for patient care treatment provided by Alcon Labs Inc. The NAICS code for this requirement is 339112; this is an urgent and compelling requirement. The INFINITI ® Vision System allows physicians to provide patients with customized cataract surgery. This approach combines unparalleled fluidics with two unique energy delivery systems, providing surgeons increased efficiency and the ability to customize cataract lens removal to each patient. The system's OZIL® Torsional Handpiece delivers side-to-side, oscillating ultrasonic movement, enhancing surgeon control during surgery. Increased surgical control delivers greater potential for obtaining better surgical outcomes and safety than with traditional cataract removal technologies. This approach also supports the direction of more and more cataract surgeons towards micro-incision cataract removal. The Robley Rex VA Medical Center intends to sole source this purchase with ALCON Lab Inc. The Government believes that ALCON Lab Inc is the only authorized provider for this piece of equipment along with the urgent and compelling needed. This is a sole source under the authority of 41 U.S.C. 253 (c)(1), pursuant to FAR 6.302-1, 6.302-2. Any firm that can fulfill this requirement should provide written notification to the Contract Officer no later than 12:00Noon E.S.T. by March 21, 2012. Responses received will be evaluated; however, a determination by the Government to compete the proposed procurement based upon responses to this notice is solely within the discretion of the Government.
