The Department of Veterans Affairs Medical Center Mid Atlantic Health Care Network (VISN 6) intends to negotiate a sole source commercial item procurement with Alcon Laboratories for an Infiniti System Ozil with video overaly and handpieces. Currently the Medical Center in Salisbury, North Carolina is using this equipment and requires an additional system. Because of the proprietary components of this system it has been determined Alcon Laboratories is the only company that can provide a matching system. This proposed procurement is for the system which the Government intends to solicit and negotiate with only one source under the authority of FAR 6.302-1(2)(ii). This notice of intent is NOT a request for competitive quotes. However, interested parties may identify their interest and capability to respond to this requirement no later then noon Deptember 8, 2009,local time. A determination by the Government not to compete this proposed requirement based on responses to this notice is solely within the discretion of the Government.
