NOTICE OF SOLE SOURCE AWARD:The Government through the VA Maryland Health Care System (VAMHCS) intends to award a Sole Source contract for a Medical equipment: The Illumina Genome Analyzer. This equipment is required for the clonal amplification of single molecules randomly distributed on a glass surface, which produces DNA clusters for processing of research experiments. The Genome Analysis System is an integrated platform comprising the Illumina Genome Analyzer, the Illumina Cluster Station, a complete suite of Data Collection and Analysis software, and dedicated consumables. Using a Sequencing-by-Synthesis (SBS) method with patented Reversible Terminator Chemistry, the Illumina Genome Analyzer Data Collection Software allow the read of up to 1 billion DNA bases. This Sole Source under Solicitation No.VA-245-08-RP-0166 and the NAICS Code is 423450. The referenced equipment is required by the Baltimore VAMHCS "VA Field Research" program department, for the purpose of cloning the amplification of single molecules using the SBS method.The Sole Source contract will be issued on or about 1 July 2008.
