Under Statutory Authority 41 U.S.C. 253(c)(1), the VA Great Lakes Acquisition Center anticipates entering into a sole source award with Haemonetics Corporation for the purchase of Glycerolization Kits for use with the Haemonetics ACP 215 equipment at the James A. Lovell Federal Health Care Center, North Chicago, IL. The kits are utilized for glycerolizing of human blood. To the best of our knowledge, these kits are the only kits designed to work with the Haemonetics ACP 215. Kits used specifically for this instrument are regulated and approved by the Food and Drug Administration (FDA). The Government intends to solicit and negotiate with only one source under FAR 6.302-1. The above authority is cited and justification made based on the determination that the Government's minimum needs can only be satisfied by services available from one source. This notice of intent is not a request for competitive proposals. Other vendors may identify their interest and capability to meet the above requirements by responding to this announcement by October 22, 2010 by 2:00 PM CST. Supporting evidence must be furnished in sufficient detail to demonstrate the ability to comply with this requirement. Responses should be emailed to [email protected]. All responses received by the due date and time will be evaluated by the Government. A determination by the Government not to open the requirement to competition based upon responses to this notice is solely within the discretion of the Government. Information received as a result of the notice of intent will normally be considered solely for the purpose of determining whether to conduct a competitive procurement. No solicitations documents are available and telephone requests will not be honored.
