The Detroit VA Medical Center, 4646 John R Street, Detroit, MI 48201 intends to negotiate a sole source procurement with BMG Labtech, 2415-118 Presidential Drive, Durham, NC 27703. The proposed contract action is for the purchase of a Fluostar Omega reader and a Reagent Injector. The Fluostar Omega Reader will aid in the understanding of cellular and sub cellular processes important to Veteran's health; infection, cancer cell adhesion and metastasis, ulcer healing and nerve injury and repair. This particular plate reader is capable of absorbance reading in both the visible and UV range, giving it broad applicability for the many colorimetric assays. The Government intends to solicit and negotiate with only one source under authority of FAR 6.302-3(a) (2)(ii). A determination by the government not to compete this proposed contract, based upon responses to this notice, is solely the discretion of the government.
