THIS IS A NOTICE OF INTENT, NOT A REQUEST FOR A PROPOSAL. A SOLICITATION DOCUMENT WILL NOT BE ISSUED AND PROPOSALS WILL NOT BE REQUESTED.The National Heart, Lung, and Blood Institute (NHLBI), Office of Acquisitions (OA), Division of Extramural Research Activities (DERA), intends to negotiate and award a purchase order on a noncompetitive sole source basis to Illumnina Inc., 9885 Towne Ctr Dr,, San Diego, CA 92121, for the purchase of Catalog number PC-101-1002 (0801-0002), DNA Sequencing Kit version B. Each Kit includes a DNA sample preparation kit (required for preparing 10 individual samples. 10 cluster generation kits including flow cells), and 10 sequencing-by-synthesis kits (35 cyles). The sole source determination is based upon the fact that the sequencing kit is manufactured by Illumina-Solexa, formally known as Solexa. The samples must be compatible with the Illumina-Solexa 1G Genome Analyzer. In order to analyze the samples on this machine, the Government must purchase the DNA Sequencing Kit from the manufactured. Industry Classification (NAICS) Code is 423450/100 employees is applicable to this requirement. This acquisition is being conducted under simplified acquisition procedures, and exempt from the requirements of FAR Part 6. This notice of intent is not a request for competitive proposals. Interested parties may identify their interest and capabilities in response to this requirement. The determination by the Government not to compete the proposed contract based upon responses to this notice is solely within the discretion of the Government. Information received will normally be considered solely for the purpose of determining whether to conduct future competitive procurement.
