Intent to Sole Source The Department of Veterans Affairs, VISN 6 Contracting Activity intends to sole source a firm-fixed-price, sole-source purchase order to Intuitive Surgical, Inc., 1266 Kifer Road, Sunnyvale, CA 94086. The requirement is for Endowrist instruments which are designed to work on the da Vinci surgical robot. The instruments are needed for a medical procedure to be performed on 8/5/2013 at the Salisbury VA Medical Center. This requirement will be fulfilled on a sole-source basis in accordance with FAR 6.302-2, unusual and compelling urgency. The purchase order will be granted in accordance with simplified acquisition procedures. THIS NOTICE IS NEITHER A REQUEST FOR QUOTATION NOR A SOLICITATION OF OFFERS. A determination not to compete this proposal contract has been made Pursuant to 41 U.S.C. 253 (c)(1), as implemented by 6.302-1(b)(1)(i), this requirement has been justified and approved in accordance with FAR 6.303 and FAR 6.304.
