The Naval Air Systems Command intends to place a sole-source firm fixed price order under Basic Ordering Agreement N00019-05-G-0026 with McDonnell Douglas Corporation (MDC) (A Wholly Owned Subsidiary of the Boeing Company) of St. Louis, Missouri 63166, for the procurement of four hundred forty-seven (447) F/A-18 ECP 6325R1 retrofit kits along with any associated Non-Recurring Engineering (NRE).The ECP is necessary due to the result of inspections conducted following the 3rd Lifetime of fatigue testing on the FT50 test article, cracks were found in the Y618 Inboard Former (P/N 74A342314) at the Keel Longeron assembly. This former is a Maintenance Critical (MC) component. Test failure correlation analysis indicated the safe life of the FT50 configuration former to be 1320 SFH for the E/F aircraft and 1710 SFH for the EA-18G aircraft . The F/A-18 E/F and EA-18G contracts require a 6000 hour and a 7500 hour service life respectively. Projected period of performance is 1 April 2010 through 30 October 2011. MDC is the sole designer, developer, manufacturer and integrator of the F/A-18E/F aircraft in its various configurations and is the only source with the knowledge, expertise, facilities, and qualified personnel necessary to accomplish this effort.
