The Transportation Security Administration (TSA) intends to negotiate a single-source contract with L-3 Communications (St. Petersburg, FL) for the modification of four (4) government owned eXaminer 6000 Explosives Detection System (EDS) units. Work performed under this contract shall include but not be limited to: modification of the existing eXaminer 6000 EDS into the AN-6400 performance configuration via government owned upgrades; engineering services to support the modification; and maintenance services of deployed AN-6400 EDS equipment. TSA also intends to negotiate single source contracts with L-3 Communications for production and maintenance of AN-6400 EDS equipment. TSA intends to purchase up to 54 AN-6400 EDS full system units over the next 12 months. TSA is negotiating the single-source procurements because only L-3 Communications has the ability, essential intellectual property and requisite expertise to perform the aforementioned work.
