Description: Southwestern Power Administration (Southwestern) intends to award a contract on a sole-source basis to General Electric; 8525 Baxter Place; Suite 100; Burnsby, British Columbia, Canada under 41 USC 253 c(1) one responsible source. The award will be for the Contractor to furnish JungleMux SONET Equipment by means other than the use of full and open competition for the continuation of its Operational Communications system Improvement Project. This company is uniquely qualified to deliver the product needed. GE JungleMUX SONET equipment is required for installation in Southwestern's operational communications system used to support the operation and maintenance of its electrical power transmission system. This is an intent to award sole-source and is not a request for competitive proposals. Firms who want to challenge the sole-source must submit an interest letter that demonstrates the firm's ability to provide the equipment described above. Interested parties must provide rationale as to why they should be considered. All interested firms must respond by 2 PM Central Standard Time, ten days from the date of this synopsis to the attention of Paula Cheney; Southwestern Power Administration; One West Third; Tulsa, OK 74103-3519. A determination by the Government not to compete with this proposed Commercial Item Contract based upon responses to this notice is solely within the discretion of the Government.
