The Defense Supply Center Richmondâs (DSCRâs) Product Center 2 intends to establish a Government/Industry Commodity Council with DSCR and the cable and wiring harness industry. Product Center 2 is one of many units within DSCR that purchase items as part of Defense Logistics Agencyâs mission to provide supplies to the Department of Defense. The items of interest are predominantly identified to Federal Stock Classes (FSCs) 5995 and 6150. The dollar value of Product Center 2âs procurements in these FSCs over the past 12 months has been approximately $167 million.
DSCR intends to conduct a meeting of all parties interested in discussions concerning the establishment of a Commodity Council, defining the expectations of the council, long term contracting, maintaining the cable industrial base, leveraging the connector industry, small business participation and growth, demand planning, shared data and metrics, and other issues affecting the end goals of improved support to the warfighter and a strong industrial base.
The date for this conference is targeted sometime during one of the last two weeks of September or the first two weeks of October 2003 in Richmond, Virginia. The conference will last one full day.
