The Space and Naval Warfare Systems Center, San Diego (SSC San Diego), intends to issue modification #P00002 against contract N66001-03-D-5063 with Synergy Microsystems, Inc., of San Diego, California. The modification will be issued on a sole-source basis using the procedures of FAR Subpart 13.5 - Test Program for Certain Commercial Items (Section 4202 of the Clinger-Cohen Act of 1996). The modification increases the contract ceiling quantity of VSS4/GR Quad PPC 750 DSP array processor boards by 150 units. SSC San Diego requires a single board array processor system to perform signal processing system control and interface for the Advanced Modular Electronics Distant Sentinel (AMEDS) Receiver System. The board must utilize a VERSAmodule Eurocard (VME64) interface and provide enough processing power for high-speed Digital Signal Processing (DSP) algorithmic computations. The array processor system must consist of two SCSI interface ports, two RS-232 Serial interfaces, an Ethernet 10/100 Base-T interface, and a PCI Mezzanine interface. The array processor must meet the performance minimum of 3.5 GFLOPS and support the LINUX operating system. The board's physical dimensions must be compatible with the VME64 back plane and comply with chassis volume restrictions. Delivery to SSC San Diego will be required within 45 days upon issuance of delivery order. The VSS4/GR Quad PPC 750 DSP is the only array processor board that meets these requirements and is compatible with the software driver interfaces used int he AMEDS Receiver System. Use of any other vendor would result in extensive costs associated with having to rewrite all of the software driver interfaces to accomodate a different array processor board. It is not expected that these costs would be recovered through competition. This is not a request for proposal and no solicitation is available.
