***The National Oceanic & Atmospheric Administrations (NOAA) Acquisition & Grants Office, Mountain Region Acquisition Division, intends to negotiate, on a sole source basis, under authority of FAR 13.106-1(b)(1), with Coherent, Inc., for the purchase of a VERDI V10 SF Water Riser Chiller: RoHS Compliant Laser to support a number of crucial NOAA specialized experiments. ***Sole Source determination is based on NOAAs requirements which can only be met by Coherent, Inc.s laser for the following specific power, low noise, and stability requirements of Power 10W, Wavelength 532nm, Noise 0.03% rms from 10Hz to 1GHz, Linewidth 5MHz, single longitudinal mode, non-mode-hop, single-longitudinal-mode output with linewidth under 5MHz, Power Stability 1% over 2 hours after a 15 minute warmup, Beam Pointing Stability 5 urad/degrees C, and Single Frequency. This notice of intent is not a request for competitive proposals; however, firms that believe they can provide equipment that fully meets the Governments requirements may submit substantiating documentation in writing to the identified point of contact within 15 days after publication of this synopsis. Such documentation will be evaluated solely for the purpose of determining whether or not to conduct this procurement on a competitive basis. A determination by the Government not to compete this proposed effort on a competitive basis, based upon responses to this notice, is solely within the discretion of the government.
