Western Area Power Administration intends to purchase relays and other equipment from one source of supply under the authority of 41 U.S.C. 253(c)(1). The relays are manufactured by Schweitzer Engineering Laboratories, Pullman, WA. We are not aware of other equipment that meets the required amp rating and communication protocol provided by this equipment. Other equipment, should they be identified, would require reconfiguration of our current system at significant cost.
