NASA/GSFC has a requirement for Erbium Fiber Amplifier QTY. 1NASA/GSFC intends to purchase the items from IPG Photonics Corporation, pursuant to FAR13.106, for the acquisition of supplies or services determined to be reasonably availablefrom only one source. This equipment has a unique combination of requiredfeatures/specifications: a. It is identical in form and function to an existing unit thatis currently in the airborne CO2 Sounder System. b. The output power is 10 W, it issingle mode, and linearly polarized. The fiber amplifier is compatible with exsitinginstrumentation hardware. It is intended as a field replacement for the exsiting unitduring airborne campaigns.The Government intends to acquire a commercial item using FAR Part 12.Interested organizations may submit their capabilities and qualifications to perform theeffort in writing to the identified point of contact not later than 4:30 p.m. local timeon August 4,2009. Such capabilities/qualifications will be evaluated solely for thepurpose of determining whether or not to conduct this procurement on a competitive basis. A determination by the Government not to compete this proposed effort on a full and opencompetition basis, based upon responses to this notice, is solely within the discretionof the government.Oral communications are not acceptable in response to this notice.All responsible sources may submit an offer which shall be considered by the agency.An Ombudsman has been appointed.
