The Naval Surface Warfare Center, Panama City, FL, (NSWC PC) intends to solicit Hydroid, Inc., 6 Benjamin Nye Circle, Pocasset, MA 02559-4900 for twenty-eight (28) each P/N 102610-2-102611-81 Transponders and ten (10) each P/N 102611-81 Transponder Firmware. The current SDV docking sonar transponder (DS-3) has an obsolete computer board and its reliability and range has degraded over time. Also, the DS-3 transponder is large and heavy to carry. A detailed evaluation of options recommended that the SDV DS-3 transponder be replaced with the Hydroid transponder. The Hydroid transponder is currently used in the SAHRV and the Dry Deck Shelter (DDS), both of which interface with the SDV. The firmware will be added to the DDS transponder making them interoperable with the SAHRV. Converting the SDV DS-3 transponder will make the SDV 100 percent compatible with SAHRV and the DDS sonar systems. In addition it will simplify maintenance/troubleshooting procedures and logistics sup! port.
