The United States Geological Survey, Western Ecological Research Center (WERC), Las Vegas Field Station has a requirement to modify a commercial item for five (5) RFID Transponders with a total of 100 tags to track adult and juvenile desert tortoises. These systems must contain the following specifications: a) Range: range of not less than 300 meters, locate tortoises above and below ground, and track juvenile tortoises with more than an 80% success rate; b) Transceivers: preferable hand held, no size/weight limitations; c) Tags (to be affixed on the tortoises): shall be less than 10 g and not more than 1/2 of an inch square for the main body, but with an allowable antenna extension (10-15 inches). Additionally we would like to retain technical expertise from the vendor for 2 years. A request for quotation (RFQ) 08WRQQ0003 will be made available through the Government-wide Point of Entry (GPE) on or about 13 November 2007, IAW Far 5.102(a)(1).
