The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention intends to issue a sole source purchase order to Smith Detection, Inc. 14 Commerce Drive, Danbury, CT 06810-4131 for Illuminator PHL Package, Part No. 006-2007 with Microscope Option. This product is an Advanced Infrared Microspectrometer for a research grade, infinity-corrected light microscope. This solution has been specifically customized and packaged to meet the needs of Public Health Laboratories. This is the only known vendor that makes this equipment with the required performance characteristics. The proposed contract action is for supplies in which the government intends to solicit and negotiate with only one source under authority of FAR part 6.302-1 Only one responsible source and no other supplies or services will satisfy agency requirements. All vendors are required to be registered in the Central Contractor Registration (CCR) prior to award of a Federal contract. The preferred method for completing registration is via the World Wide Web at http://www.ccr.gov/. A handbook and other information are available at the site, including information on how to obtain a DUNS number, which is required to begin the registration process. Interested persons may identify their interest and capability to respond to the requirements. This notice is not a request for competitive proposals. The government will consider all proposals received by 8:30 AM, EST, Tuesday, August 16, 2005. A determination by the Government not to compete this proposed contract based on responses to this notice is solely within the discretion of the government.
