The Naval Sea Systems Command intends to procure five Acoustic Rapid Commercial Off-the Shelf (COTS) Insertion (A-RCI) “Delta” kits to upgrade existing (complete and partial) systems, with associated delta pre-cable kits and delta spares. Two of the kits will upgrade SSN systems to SSBN (Trident) systems, one kit will upgrade a partial SSBN system to a full SSBN system, another will upgrade a partial system for SSN21 (SEAWOLF), and the fifth will convert a Phase II/III System to a Phase III System. A-RCI is a sonar system upgrade that integrates and improves towed array, hull array, sphere array, and other ship sensor processing, through rapid insertion of COTS based hardware and software. A-RCI has already been successfully integrated into SSN688, SSN 688i, and SSBN 726 Class Submarines. NAVSEA has determined it is in the government’s best interest to solicit this effort from Lockheed Martin Corporation, Naval Electronics and Surveillance Systems (LMNE&SS) in Mana! ssas, Virginia.
