The U. S. Department of Commerce, NOAA intends to procure 28 Surface Velocity Program (SVP) with the option to purchase up to an additional ten (10) Drifters. The SVP satellite tracked drifters are designed to follow ocean currents centered 15 meters below the surface. The drifters shall include a surface float housing an antenna, ARGOS transmitter, batteries, and sea surface temperature and drogue sensors. A subsurface drouge shall be tethered to the float to reduce the effects of surface forces on the float. The drifters will be purchase under the guidelines of FAR Part 13, Simplified Acquisition Procedures. A copy of the Request for Quotation (RFQ) will be available on or about June 21 ,2002.
