NA The Naval Surface Warfare Center, Dahlgren Division, Coastal Systems Station, Panama City, Florida intends to issue a sole source purchase order to U.S. Divers/Aqualung America for the procurement of one (1)rebreather. The rebreather design is based on the existing CRABE rebreather with some modifications to make it more suitable for U.S. Navy use. The rebreather has been developed for a unique application that combines closed circuit, pure oxygen rebreather technology with semi-closed mixed gas rebreather technology using a respiratory linked system. It can be used on pure oxygen in the closed circuit mode while the diver is near the surface and will not exhaust bubbles into the water column. If the diver needs to go to greater depth, there is a switch, which changes the rebreather into a semi-closed respiratory linked system injecting mixed gas at a rate proportional to t he respiration rate of the diver. The primary advantage of having the make up gas linked to the diver’s respiration is that the PPO2 in the system is stable at each depth and the gas is used more efficiently. This rebreather, provided by Aqualung America, is the only rebreather in existence that incorporates all the features needed. Delivery will be to the Coastal Systems Station, 6703 W.
