Because of recent approval to expand a collaborative stent project with MIT, it is necessary to purchase the more advanced microscope to work in concert (and for interchangeability of accessories and attachments) with the already existing Keyence VHX-500 and VHX-600 that are used to inspect, measure, record, and analyze many different medical devices for material defects, fractures and out-of-tolerance dimensions. In particular the VHX-1000E will be used for pre and post test inspections and characterizations of the many stent designs and sizes that are life tested under this initiative.
