INVITATION FOR PREQUALIFICATION NOTICEConstruction of the Ghazni to Gardez and the Gardez to Khost Roads Ghanzi, Paktia and Khost Provinces, Afghanistan The Government of the Islamic Republic of Afghanistan is receiving assistance from the United States Agency for International Development (USAID) under the Afghanistan Infrastructure Rehabilitation Program, which is being administrated by The Louis Berger Group, Inc. and Black and Veatch Special Projects Corp. Joint Venture (LBG/B&V JV). USAID intends to apply a portion of the funds under this program for the Construction of the Ghazni to Gardez Road and the Gardez to Khost Road, in Ghanzi, Paktia and Khost Provinces, Afghanistan. LBG/B&V JV intends to prequalify interested civil works contractors for the construction of the Ghazni to Gardez Road and the Gardez to Khost Road. This prequalification is for both roads for which bids shall be solicited separately. Each of the roads will incorporate approximately 103 km of new asphaltic concrete roadway, the rehabilitation and re-construction of reinforced concrete bridges of varying lengths, 60 to 100 RC box and pipe culverts, 500 thousand cubic meters of rock excavation 8000 cubic meters of embankment construction, roadway striping and signs. It is expected that invitations for bids will be sent to prequalified applicants in December 2007.
