The Model Shop of the Naval Sea Systems Command, Naval Surface Warfare Center, Carderock Division, MD intends to procure one 5-Axis Computerized Numerically Controlled (CNC) Router. The machine shall be a new, CNC router, 5-axis (minimum) milling machine with a fixed table and moving gantry. Two (minimum) rotary axes will be on the gantry. The machine shall be capable of milling wood, composites, aluminum honeycomb, Kevlar and plastics. The machine shall accommodate work pieces with a machining envelope of at least 120" X 240" X 36", with a total weight of 4000 pounds. Request for quotation will be issued on or about 22 May 2002.
