The Government intends to negotiate and award, on a one-time basis,  a sole source commercial firm fixed priced type contract to Black Hills Ammunition of Rapid City , SD,  in accordance with FAR 6.302-2 (Unusual and compelling urgency) , for .300 Winchester Magnum,  as described in ANSI/SAAMI Z299.4, small arms ammunition.  The purchased quantity will be 40,000 rounds, with two options for 20,000 rounds, which may be exercised by the Government,  based upon the need to maintain an on-hand supply,  at minimum essential quantities. 

The immediate Contract award is intended to be made by 30 June 2012 or earlier, and is required to satisfy immediate needs for the subject ammunition.  This requirement is for commercial supplies. The resulting contract will be for a period of six months. 

 This acquisition is being conducted to maintain adequate supplies on-hand for mission essential operations while a competitive acquisition is completed under Solicitation Number HSSS01-12-R-0009, which was previously published on the www.fbo.gov website. Fulfillment of additional requirements under that acquisition has delayed the completion of that acquisition and so this immediate award will allow the Government to meet its mission requirements until the award under HSSS01-12-R-0009 is awarded on a competitive basis.

 The award of the competitive procurement shall completed be a soon as is practicable.   

 The North American Industry Classification System (NAICS) is 332992. 

This notice of intent is not a request for competitive proposals.  No formal solicitation package is available.  The Government will not be responsible for any costs incurred in responding to this notice.
